Earth Day 2012, Puja in the Park
April 2012: Albuquerque KTC celebrated its first annual Earth Day puja.

Albuquerque KTC joined the KTD monastery, and 12 other KTCs, in holding an outdoor puja dedicated to the peace and well-being of the planet and its inhabitants. These activities were held in accordance with H.H. the 17th Karmapa's Khoryug environmental program.

The Albuquerque event was held at the Bachechi Open Space, located off of Rio Grande Blvd in North Albuquerque. Photos of the event are shown below (photos by Susan McCamey).

Twelve KTCs and one Karma Kagyu student group in locations sprinkled throughout the country will synchronize special Chenrezik Puja's dedicated to safeguarding the Earth at 12:00 PM EST, Sunday, April 22, Earth Day, 2012.

These pujas will take place nationwide as KTD monastery conducts an Awakening the Dreamer, Pachamama Alliance environmental symposium, with a concurrent working group on Spirituality in Environmental Advocacy.

As we treasure a precious human embodiment, so we treasure the Earth; and are called to protect this sacred platform for the evolution of sentient beings. There is still time to add your voices to the pujas being offered by the following KTCs on Earth Day:

  1. Santa Monica, CA
  2. Hartford, CT
