Visiting Teachers

Khenpo Ugyen is the Abbot of KTD Monastery, teaching there and at KTC centers throughout North America. He has received teachings from important masters in both the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages, both studying and later serving as senior Khenpo at the Karma Shri Nalanda Institute at Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim.

Khenpo Tenkyong was sent to teach at KTD by the 17th Karmapa in 2014 after working closely with the Karmapa on many projects, including developing environmental standards for the system of Karma Kagyu monasteries. He is a dynamic teacher with a passion for teaching and for nature.

Lama Chopal is a master artist and thangka painter who has had a connection with Albuquerque KTC for many years, frequently coming to guide in the creation of sand mandalas. He is a resident teacher at the Earth Journey Center in Questa, NM. He has studied at the major Kagyu monasteries, and his teachers include Bokar Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche.
